Reflecting on the Psalms
This fall our small groups and large groups are marinating in the Psalms. For many, the Psalms is a staple of their spiritual diet and anchors them through both good and bad times. Everyone is enjoying the process of demystifying the Psalms and how to read them.
To help us go deeper we invited Michelle Knight, a professor at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, to unpack the Psalms a bit more for us. Her breakdown of the sections of the Psalms (pictured below) and focus on how to use the lament Psalms really helped a lot of our fellowship.
This was our first large group and, after our time of deep reflection, many of us stayed afterwards for fellowship and fun. It’s part of our attempt to create more space for community to grow outside of our structured learning times and it was quite successful as you can see from the pictures below.
Please pray that we would continue to use the rich emotional depth of the Psalms to help us commune with God whatever we might be feeling. Also pray for our fellowship to continue to bond outside of our more structured events.
